Fighting Spirit (Hajime no Ippo); in full, Hajime no Ippo: THE FIGHTING, is a boxing anime and manga series created by Jyoji "George" Morikawa, which is serialized by Kodansha in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
The Fighting Spirit manga has been running since 1989 and currently spans 79 tankōbon. A 76-episode Fighting Spirit anime adaption was produced by Madhouse Production and ran on the Nippon TV Network from October 2000 to March 2002. One OVA and a movie were also produced. The anime is licensed in North America by Geneon as Fighting Spirit. Characters: Ippo Makunouchi, Ichiro Miyata, Genji Kamogawa, Mamoru Takamura.
