Trunks first appears in the Cell Saga as an infant, where he is revealed to be the son of Bulma and Vegeta. Years later in the Majin Buu Saga Trunks is shown to be able to transform into a Super Saiyan a transformation that was thought only to be attainable through intensive training of the body and emotions. Trunks trains with his father, Vegeta for the Tenkaichi Budokai, a martial arts tournament that occurs every three to five years in the series. In the tournament, Trunks easily breezes through the kid's division of the tournament, and defeats his friend, Son Goten in the finals.
